Appalachia Rising Benefit
This week, we’re shining a light on “Ecology”, with a very special vibes-raising benefit for Appalachia Rising. Did you know that 500 named mountains have been blown up for coal, and that here in Mass, 50% of our energy still comes from that dirty stuff?!
On September 27th, thousands of people from across the country will converge in DC to demand clean economies for the coalfields and an immediate end to the destructive practice of mountaintop removal coal mining. We will be collecting donations and selling some incredible artwork from the Beehive Design Collective to support this national mobilization. For more info, visit appalachiarising.org and check out some artwork at beehivedesigncollective.org . For the Mountains, Miners and Families, we are all connected!

This week Music Ecology welcomes the crew that puts together the biweekly event Bass Embassy at Fusion in Worcester MA. Featuring:

Heyoka AKA Andrei Olenev is a cosmic auditory scientist found in the Bay Area noosphere, who has been blowing minds with his sonic manipulations.
Muti Music first released Heyoka’s “Space Case EP” in 2008 and included him on their growing roster of talented artists. His albums ‘Whomp Gland & Pineal Dub’, ‘Gate Code’ and the all new ‘Marklar’ album in 2010 have shown that he is a producer consistently ...evolving his musical style while managing to maintain a signature sound that is distinctively ‘Heyoka’.
His early influences in Downtempo, Dub and IDM combined with midtempo dancefloor genres have helped create a very unique sound that combines relentless basslines, hip hop rhythms, dub vibes, and musicality and melody, all within an atmosphere of heavy psychedelia and alien dimensions. The response to his emergence so far has been overwhelming with Heyoka developing audiences and playing festivals from US to Canada and Australia.

Mount Kimbie ( Hotflush, UK )
Who – or what - is Mount Kimbie, really? “That’s a hard question,” muses Dom Maker. “The hardest. It’s...” “It’s hard to say,” chimes in Kai Campos. “It’s an unspoken thing.”
Unspoken, or barely even there at all? The duo’s first two EPs – Maybes and Sketch On Glass, both out in 2009 through Hotflush – seemed like explorations of spaces so private that all within earshot were turned instantly into voy...eurs. The experience was less like listening to music and more like eavesdropping on the machinations of a lone mind – albeit a lone mind surrounded by and retreating from millions of other minds.
Coralcola ( http://www.coralcola.net/ )
Rumor has it Mikey has a brand new live set he's been working on just for this occasion. When asked for a short bio he responded with just this one line...
"i wish some of the people around here would start associating electronic music with bong rips and being a hermit." - coralcola
